About René Welti, Founder of America Live

In 1988 founded a travel promotional company assisting European and U.S. clients in increasing consumer awareness and room night revenue to their destinations through advertising and promotions that included packaging Swiss alpine destinations with soft-adventure tour operators. René speaks fluent German & Swiss-German and has coordinated numerous destination promotions in German speaking Europe for his clients. He also gives back and has taught tourism classes as an adjunct professor in both the Florida State University and Georgia State University. Public speaking highlights include the keynote speech at the Arizona Governors Conference on Tourism, serving one NTA panels, leading the Atlanta CVB International Seminar for Olympic preparation, conducting many International Tourism Seminars, speaking to many CVB’s on how to increase their tourism and doing Go Green Tourism destination presentations.

René’s career in the tourism industry spans over 40 years and includes the following experiences:

With Florida Division of Tourism in Tallahassee, FL
As Assistant Director, marketed Florida including advertising, media relations and promotions with management responsibility of 6 departments (122 employees) and $9.3 million operational budget with responsibility to implement sales and marketing programs in 150 annual programs in 30 states and 15 countries.

As Director of International Marketing was responsible for Florida promotions in Europe, Canada and Latin America including influencing British Airways to add air service to Florida.

With Trans World Airlines

• Directed European marketing and promotional efforts as International Marketing Manager, based in London, UK.
• Produced the first TWA Fly Drive commercial in the UK.
• Also managed sales and marketing programs in assignments that included Hartford, Connecticut and Zurich, Switzerland.
